A log cabin is a great way to transform your outdoor space. Forest Garden log cabins have roofs and floors made from kiln-dried Tongue & Groove boards and are available with a choice of different roof felt options (we recommend the roof options that include underlay).
The timber used for these log cabins is slow grown, clear, Nordic Spruce. This timber is FSC? certified to ensure the stainability of the wood. The timber is kiln dried and we strongly advise that you apply and appropriate solvent-based preservative treatment inside and outside soon after assembly to extend the life of the cabin and whilst the timber used will change colour over time, simply re-apply a colour-based timber treatment regularly to maintain your preferred look.
Our precision-engineered logs are constructed with a 6-sided joint and chalet-cut corners to strengthen against the UK?s weather.
This log cabin must be built on a flat, level surface that is solid.
The Blakedown is a large log cabin with an apex roof. It has an internal footprint of 5.7 x 3.7 metres which provides a generous 21.2 square metres (228 square feet). The apex stands at a height of 2.47 metres for extra head room. Overall dimensions are 6.24 metres x 4.2 metres (20 x 14 feet) and the roof features a useful 23cm overhang at the front and back and 20cm at the sides to give some weather protection.
This large cabin is ideal for creating more living room in your outside space and could be used for various things, including workshops, home gyms, offices or general additional living space.
The floor and roof are created from 19mm tongue and groove boards and the walls are built using 45mm thick interlocking logs while all the windows are double glazed with toughened glass and fitted with tilt and turn opening mechanisms that allow them to be opened conventionally or tilted back with the top of the window open.
Different roof felt options are available for our log cabins. This option includes a 24kg weight Polyester felt, but with no underlay (We advise you consider the small upgrade to Polyester felt with additional black sand felt underlay). The felt has a polyester fibre base layer, making it much tougher and more resistant to tearing than non-polyester grades. As this felt has more than twice the tear resistance of conventional mineral felt it has a life expectancy of up to 15 years when installed properly.
